Paul Boutin, MD

Dr. Paul Boutin is the program director for the Brattleboro Retreat's children’s inpatient unit. He graduated summa cum laude from Bowdoin College with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He received a master’s degree in Biostatistics from the University of Washington, in Seattle, before spending eight years working in HIV treatment research.  Subsequently, he received his medical degree, and completed both his residency in adult psychiatry and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Washington.

Dr. Boutin is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in both psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. He joined the Brattleboro Retreat in August, 2007, and has worked on the children’s inpatient unit since June 2008. Since 2009 he has lectured in Psychiatry at Dartmouth Medical School.

Dr. Boutin’s clinical areas of expertise within child and adolescent psychiatry include depression and bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, autism spectrum disorders and eating disorders.
