BRIDGES (The Brattleboro Retreat Individually Developed & Guided Education Services) is an alternative day school program serving students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade, ages 5-22. BRIDGES is part of the Meadows Educational Center at the Brattleboro Retreat, which is a state-approved independent school, under the leadership of Garth D. Grennan, MS.Ed., CAS, principal and director of Educational Programming.We specialize in meeting the needs of a diverse group of children and adolescents who have experienced difficulty achieving success in public school settings based on their learning styles, cognitive functioning, developmental concerns, behaviors, social skills, mental illness and/or emotional needs. Services include:- classroom education in all core subjects
- experiential learning opportunities that address basic health and wellness, emotion regulation, independent living skills, vocational skills, and community service.
- a multidisciplinary team of educational and clinical staff including the principal, coordinator/clinical specialist, teachers, a reading specialist, special educators, creative arts therapist, social workers, an RN, and a group of trained mental health workers.
BRIDGES Coordinator, Jessica Shepley, Psy.D. joined the team in June of 2011, She has worked with children and adolescents at the Brattleboro Retreat in a variety of clinical and managerial roles, and in close collaboration with the Meadows Educational Center for the past 6 years. She is looking forward to further growing, developing and refining the existing program with the feedback and support of our local school districts.
